About the Author
A senior engineer from NASA once said that this man gave the best technical seminar he ever attended. That same year a computer-phobic who had been struggling with Photoshop for years proclaimed that “He takes the Boogie Man out of Photoshop!” This seems to be Ben Willmore's special gift; he has an uncanny ability to connect with users of every level and mindset; whether it’s first-timers taking their first sniff of Photoshop, or razor-sharp nerds and nerdettes who are on the fast track to technical illumination. The common echo that Ben leaves in his wake seems to be “Aha! I finally GET Photoshop!”
To date, Ben has personally taught over 45,000 Photoshop users on three continents. His descriptions of Curves and Channels are thought to be the best in the industry and his breakthrough teaching style of “not-just-how-but-why,” has made him the in-house instructor of choice for companies such as Mercedes Benz, Adobe Systems, America Online, the U.S. Airforce, Lexis Nexis and Fisher-Price Toys. His award-winning, best-selling book, Adobe Photoshop Studio Techniques is said to be “Arguably, one of the best Photoshop books ever written.” by Photoshop User’s publisher, Jim Workman. His latest book 'Photoshop CS2: Up to Speed' is a new concept in books and is the only book focused exclusively on the new features in Photoshop CS2. He is also co-author (with Jack Davis) of “How to Wow: Photoshop for Photographers”, and creator of the best-selling Master Series videos.
He continues to be a featured speaker at publishing conferences and events worldwide, including Photoshop World, American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and the Royal Photographic Society of England. He's a member of the Dream Team for NAPP and writes for numerous digital imaging and photography publications, including a monthly column for Photoshop User magazine. In 2004 he was inducted into the Photoshop Hall of Fame. His reputation as the “expert's expert” prompted NAPP's president, Scott Kelby, to say, “When we get stuck, we call Ben!”
Ben sold his house in the mountains of Colorado in early 2006 and started to live a mobile lifestyle. His home is a 1997 40' Prevost bus (often referred to as a Rock Star Bus) that was converted by Liberty coach into a motorhome. The bus is pretty much a one bedroom apartment on wheels. Ben spends his time driving to speaking events and photographing National Parks and small town America.

Buy and be Wowed
By M. Sweeney
I had the pleasure of sitting through Jack's class while on a Geek Cruise called "Macmania" and he refered to his book. I bought it wondering just how good the book would be relative to Jack in the flesh and I have to say that the book presents very well indeed. This is not always true for some teachers but Jack has the gift to be able to clearly and effectively communicate the needed information to make Photoshop sing for non-professional (and even them at times!) users. The title of "how to wow" really does say it all. The book is full of easy to use techniques that will really punch up an average picture to near-fine art quality, assuming it's a good picture to start. And even then, it can really help salvage a picture that might be so-so to a very acceptable picture. Many of the techniques are very easy to use and make alot of sense once you try it once. In my own case, I used his tips on distortion filters to straighten out a picture of a building in just seconds. No bellows needed or fancy 3rd party filters needed. He shows how to selectively adjust contrast, color, brightness, color correction and alot more without the typical photoshop overhead of a dozen layers and such. He does push the use of raw files and after watching what can be done with raw files, I can see why. But, he does not leave those who can only shoot JPEGs behind, many of tips and tricks work just as well with JPEGs and he demos them that way.
Finally, while the book is great fun, if you ever get the chance to see Jack present this information in person, do it. It's worth the effort to see him.

Best book on Photoshop for photographersoks
By Quixotic Guy
This book is the best I have read on Photoshop. It has more practical and useful techniques than any other book, and I have read a bunch of the best known books on this subject.
I liked the book so much, I ended up buying Jack Davis' DVD set of the same name from Software Cinema. The DVD's are the movie version of the book and very useful if you are a photographer.
Other reviewers have spelled out many features in the book. I particularly found interesting the lucid explanations, for example, of Dodge and Burn with Layer Masks. The book's explanation and practical examples of using the Blend-if options with Layers is the best I have seen anywhere. And the really best way to use the power of Hue & Saturation command - mind-boggling.
I used Photoshop Elements for a couple of years and bought Photoshop CS a few months ago and felt lost for a while. Of several books I got on Photoshop Cs, this one has brought me up to speed.

I have been WOWed!
By Annelies Fugler
WOW! This book has been such a blessing for me, a total camera and Photoshop enthusiast. Everything in this remarkable book is explained in such easy to understand language. It is brimming with beautiful photos to guide the reader through every project. I don't believe I have ever purchased a book that has been so helpful in learning various new, and often quite simple, techniques to improve most of my images.
I am amazed how easy it is for me to go from chapter to chapter and learn so much. How did I ever manage to do without it? A friend looked through my book and got so excited, she ordered one for herself that very same day.
Also, the included CD has so many wonderful downloads.... actions, styles, etc. Absolutely great things!
